Run #2362

20/05/2024
Ditchling
New start time of 19:00
#2362 : The White Horse, Ditchling - Pack set off E along Lewes Rd to Nye Ln, turning S following the road and then onto footpath and all the way to Underhill Ln. Trail continued over Underhill Ln and then to Ditchling Beacon via the path adjacent to Ditchling Bostall. Expecting a fishhook at the summit, the FRBs were instead greeted by a regroup before the road crossing, affording them the opportunity to take in the wonderful views afforded by the South Downs. And so, after some wait, the pack crossed Ditchling Bostall following the South Downs Way W and on to a fishhook shortly after the Beacon. Continuing W on SDW to just after Burnthouse Bostall, trail turned N and downhill just before the turn S to Chattri Memorial. A faster pace downhill towards Underhill Ln, following the right fork at the bottom of the hill and then E on Underhill Ln found the pack splitting into distinct faster and slower groups. Continuing on passed Lodge Ln and then N onto the footpath just before Beacon Rd the FRBs found the next fishhook, necessitating a long run back for much of the group. In fact, not all of the group would be encountered as the self proclaimed 'dodgy knee' crowd (including Ride It Baby) would be led back separately! Finally, the footpath was followed N to Neville Cottages, N on Beacon Rd then South St and to Sip Stop in the village Car Park. Assembled back in the pub, NN RAing announced that it was 'Weights and Measures Day' and had confused Knightrider by asking for '8 Gills' for the DDs. A Gill, for those unaware (so that'd be almost everyone) is equal to 1/4 pint; in other words, the usual '2 pints' had been requested. A so, calling them up for their Gills / DDs were hares Trouble and Wildbush with DDs to "Here's to the Hares". Next up were One Erection, Mudlark (driving, so nominating Gomi) and Jaws for not fishhooking at the second fishhook, and also Little Swinger for fishhooking with NN at said fishhook - punishments all-round then! DDs to "10,9,8...". Finally, Psyclepath was called up for r*nning into the Sip Stop panting out loud "Beer, beer!" for all to hear; DD to "This is your Down Down song!" And so endeth another great hash. - Nasty Nips
