Run #2363

27/05/2024
Haywards Heath
May Bank Holiday; 7 PM start
#2363 : Blunts Wood / Casa Del Crowle, Haywards Heath - Wildbush has been busy! Co-haring two hashes in a row with the second from their home (and dinner and dessert already made), Keeps It Up and WB welcomed the Hash once again to Blunts Wood Car Park. And so, with the usual post-chalk talk confusion (isn't that meant to clear things up?!), the hash headed W out of Car Park following the footpath to Hatchgate Ln, W on Broad St / B2184, and turning SW onto Courtmead Rd and the first fishhook. The footpath would be followed through the Holy Trinity Church (Cuckfield) onto Church Platt and N over South St, turning W again into the fields and N through Cuckfield Park and through the woods. The fork turning W would be taken at end of woods and around N/W/N towards (but not to) B2114 / Whitemans Grn. A check here found runners spreading out in cardinal directions, with true trail continuing E at Whitemans Grn around the edge of the grounds, turning N into the woods and another check. Trail N to Whitemans Grn would find a fishhok for 6 at the end of the lane. Imagine the FRB's confusion when more than 6 would be encountered in their run back to the front... The hares had decided to set another fishhook for 6 literally just around the corner! And so a much tighter group continued E on the B2114, over the roundabout and followed footpath behind the houses over Bylanes Cl, over Ardingly Rd and down Longacre Cres / Longacre Ln. Trail then followed E all the way to Timbergate Dr, S around the estate by the playground and to Scrase Stream, and finally back W to the Car Park and back to KIU's and WB's home. With dinner and dessert all served, hares KIU and WB were called up and DDs to the tune of "Here's to the hares". Next up One Erection, Little Swinger, Private Dancer and Mudlark all for running the proper route for much shortcutting had been noted that evening; DDs to "10,9,8...". And lastly, Ride It Baby, nominated for having an argument with a bush... and losing(!); Trouble, for rubbing out arrows(!), and Nasty Nips (as a shout-out from the crowd) for falling over on trail (NN driving so nominated Spreadsheet); DDs for all to the tune of "Why were they born so beautiful?". - Nasty Nips
